Your independent guide to Branson, Missouri — shows, lakes, food & family fun

Branson With Kids, Planned by a Parent's Rules

Branson was practically engineered for family trips — grandparents included. The secret isn't doing more; it's pacing. Here's the playbook by age and energy level.

The best stops by age

Ages 2–6

Little-kid winners

The fish hatchery (free, fascinating, feed the trout), the Branson Scenic Railway from the downtown depot, Silver Dollar City's Fireman's Landing and Grand Exposition areas, and the Butterfly Palace — a warm rainforest of free-flying butterflies on a rainy morning.

Ages 7–12

The sweet spot

Full Silver Dollar City days, mountain coasters, the Titanic Museum (the kid audio tour is excellent), go-karts at the Track, Fritz's Adventure for indoor climbing and ropes, and a dinner show where horses do the entertaining.

Teens

Keep them off their phones

Time Traveler and Outlaw Run at the park, night rides on the mountain coasters, Top of the Rock's cave-and-waterfall golf cart tour in nearby Ridgedale, lake days with a rented tube, and a big illusion show at night.
